The premise for Dinner and a Cause originated in 2004 in California by three women who saw a need. They realized that there were organizations which fell through the cracks for federal and local funding. They found that, by hosting dinner parties, money could be raised to help support this need. They named their organization The Progressive Dinner Party. It became so successful that they found the attention of OPRAH magazine, and were featured in the January, 2006 Issue. From there, the inspiration grew and found it's way to St. Thomas, where Dinner and a Cause began in early 2006 with three women hosting dinner parties for local charities.
